Giorgio Armani once said, ‘accessories are important and becoming more and more important every day. They can completely change the look of an outfit, and women like the idea of having a wardrobe that's versatile. For instance, a strong piece of jewellery can make a simple outfit look elegant’. It’s so true, and bathroom accessories are no exception. Choosing the right taps, rails and shelves can bring your bathroom to life. If it’s good enough for Mr Armani, it’s good enough for us.

I’ve chosen my top 5 bathroom accessories, of course, these are just my personal favourites, but I think you’ll agree they are pretty cool.

Accessories

1. Rizara taps

My number 1 is the Rizara tap. It’s the latest in tap design and looks beautiful. The top ‘roof’ of the tap has been removed which creates the waterfall effect. I can’t get enough of how this looks, the water cascades down through the tap, like a mini Niagara Falls in your bathroom. It’s like having a spa in your home, lie back in your bath with your aromatherapy oils, bath pillow, bubbles and candles (oh, and a rubber duck of course!). I’m a little bit obsessed with these taps if you can’t tell, but there is one downfall though. It doesn’t come free with a personal masseuse to complete the spa theme. A girl can only hope.

Accessories

2. Garda mirror

I’m not vain. I felt I needed to state that having a mirror as my number 2 favourite accessory. However, this is more than your ordinary mirror. The Garda has low energy LED lights that are soft enough to see yourself at the most flattering angles yet bright enough to get your eyeliner perfect every time (a big deal for us ladies!). There’s also a built in clock and radio – dancing in the shower is optional but we all do it. I hope. But the thing I love most, lights and gadgets aside, is the way this mirror looks. It’s like the Hollywood of mirrors, glam, sleek and designed to shine.

Accessories

3. Stellar towel rail

If you have decided on the style, type of shower, tiles, colour scheme etc don’t overlook the I have this rail at home, and if you had said to me that a towel rail would change my bathing experience I would of told you to pull the other one. For 20-something years (a lady never reveals her age) I hadn’t even considered such a thing as warming my towel. Then, last year, a heated towel rail came into my life and I have never looked back. There is nothing better than stepping out of the bath and into a preheated towel. Especially on cold winter mornings where you can see your breath inside! The rail has 25 heated bars and takes up hardly any room, and as my bathroom is only small I don’t need a radiator as the rail heats the room. Heaven.

Accessories

4. Minim glass shelf

I’m not going to lie. I have far too many shampoos, shower gels, soaps, perfumes and general female toiletries. This is why I love having a bathroom shelf. I love the Minim shelf for a couple of reasons; the first is its simple design, the soft edges and chromed brass looks really beautiful and it’s ideal in a modern bathroom. But secondly, and most importantly for me, it gives me extra space for all of my things. Yes, I do need 4 different conditioners and yes my fancy soaps do need somewhere to be displayed and yes, I do let my partner store his two man toiletries on there – fairs fair after all.

Accessories

5. Bray taps

My number 5 is the Bray tap. Yes, I really am putting another tap in my top 5 accessories. Rock and roll, I know. As you can see from my top 4, I do love modern bathroom accessories, but what I love about Bray is that it’s really adaptable to different bathroom styles. It would look c‘est magnifique in a French bathroom design and being made from chrome it’s really long lasting and durable too. Also, it’s really easy to clean and to use with a crosshead design the handles are easy to turn.

I hope you have enjoyed my top 5 accessories – what are your bathroom accessory must haves?
